My views will not be normal, and they will depart from logical structure and lean into emotional reasoning. I’ve been thinking a lot about the journey across the churning river that held me back. It was a mixture of logic and emotions that were difficult to sort. So many moments created shock waves in my mind, injuring me deeply.
Tonight I sit here behind the keyboard,
Thinking deeply about current events,
Drowning out the sounds,
Crying within, thinking of everyone’s pain,
Traumatic moments creating keystones,
Looking within having nothing but doubt,
As the pills drown out the sounds,
Gulls lulling above, circling me,
Racing thoughts rushing past emotional rivers,
Wide and churning,
Finally on the other side,
Looking back, I see others struggling in the river’s depth,
Jumping back in, grabbing flailing arms,
Carrying as many friends as my strength will stand,
Exhaustion settles in, laying on the shore,
Only the future ahead.
