The thought hits against the wall of pain,
Inside my chest there lays a boundary I can’t cross,
I don’t know how to row that boat,
My responsibilities lay bare,
Figuring myself out, I’m on the right path,
Moving forward, down that lonely lane,
Realizing that the skeletons in my closet don’t define me,
I’ve made mistakes, done things dumb,
Now standing on the corner,
I look outwards, seeing myself anew,
A stoic man, standing still,
Holding lips as others talk drama,
Here I am, getting older,
The years slip by, so does the pain,
Looking back no longer feels like a jab in the back,
I’m fucking free.
