Sitting down I look about my office and see,
Standing by the mirror I cast a glance at myself,
Surrounded all around by past accomplishment,
A simple man yet I am,
For all I have done, seen, touched, performed, and such n’ such,
No longer the man I was,
But the man I am becoming is someone I care to know,
Now that is a change,
For so long I saw a monster in that mirror,
Now I see an aging man,
Battling life for myself and another,
Though life comes with pain,
I never lost myself inside the mirror pane,
Letting go of those past mistakes,
Maybe I might miss some people’s embrace,
It matters not for life is for the beholden to decide,
Let those who behold pass no judgment,
For it really matters not,
For a moment there might be a wave and crash,
Yet when all settles,
It is just I, a man alone, looking into the mirror,
At a smile all my own.
