Long lines of men working hard,
Hammering railroad ties all day long,
Ring, ding, ring, ding,
All along, hard day long,
Sun peaking about all day,
Beaming down on the men below,
Hammering away, ring, ding, ring, ding,
Steam engine whistles from deep in her bellows,
Thunder rolls over dusty hills,
Wind drifts in as town bell tolls,
Old country molding hard men,
As steam engine whistle blows,
Running through the turbulent storm,
Old engineer, blind to the track,
As lost storm roams,
Scattering unsecured tracks,
Men run for the hills,
As the train crashes lost,
Amongst the debris,
All hope lost.
